About

Growing up in the tiny village of Jericho, Vermont, population 1,091, Eris read what was available: exciting western romances by Zane Gray and the tortured love stories of Gene Stratton Porter.  Later, when she moved to a small town, she discovered that the library could provide a magic carpet that she could use to explore the world.

At 17, Eris left Vermont to attend Union University School of Nursing in Albany, New York where she met her future husband, a surgical intern from Istanbul, Turkey, and where her fascination with the different cultures of the world was born.  After they married and moved to Buffalo, New York, Eris worked as a nurse at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Buffalo’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  When their five children finished high school, Eris returned to school, the University at Buffalo this time.  After completing her Master’s in Psychiatric Nursing, she taught psychiatric nursing at the university and served as a consultant for the World Health Organization in updating psychiatric nursing education in Jamaica and for the NOVA program, Depression: Out of the Shadows.

Although Eris had been writing short stories most of her life (all rejected), her first publications were psychiatric nursing articles and research articles.  These were followed by a biographical novel, Legacy of Change: The Saga of a Turkish Family from Empire to Republic, that she co-authored with her late husband and by a textbook, Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nursing.  At last, she is writing what she has always dreamed of writing, romance novels.

Now, Eris lives in a small ‘snow belt’ town in Western New York, where she writes, reads, gardens, and fields late night requests from grandchildren for help with papers that are due the next morning.  She is a member of the Romance Writers of American and the Western New York Romance Writers group. Her interests include supporting the Crossroads Springs Institute in Kenya for children orphaned by AIDS,  working with the AHA Foundation to reduce violence against women: child marriages, female genital mutilation, and honor killings, and visiting as many of the fascinating cities of the world as possible.
